Hi, my name is Steve Lopez and I have been teaching at MRMS for 9 years, going on 10, however, I have been a teacher for 25 years. I have taught Math, Physical Education & Health here at MRMS. I will be teaching 8th grade PE & Health this 2016-2017 year. I will be coaching the 8th grade Tackle Football team, 7th & 8th grade Wrestling team, the 8th grade A Basketball team, and the 7th & 8th grade Track team. I have been married for 25 years to my beautiful wife Heidi. We have 2 kids that are 22 (Mason) and 20 (Molly). I love my family very much!
If you are wondering about all of the "Lopes Up" & "Go Lopes" pictures on my web site, my name growing up was Lopes. My daughter is attending Grand Canyon University and their mascot is the Antelope. They call themselves the 'Lopes. I was beyond excited for my daughter to be attending a school with a cool name, and the name I was called growing up. So, #GoLopes, Lopes Up, Lopes Life is my way of saying from the heart...Lets get pumped and have an awesome year together!
I love to: play basketball, play chess, travel to other countries, read- mostly inspirational books, coach, go on missions trips and love family. I love USC football, Azusa Pacific University Basketball and Anaheim Ducks Hockey.
This past summer, I celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary to my wonderful wife Heidi. We went to New York City for 6 days, then went on a cruise for 8 days to the Bahamas. This was the best trip of our married life! We had a blast! I also climbed my 2nd 14er this summer: Mt Evans. We climbed three 13ers before that: Mt Warren, Mt Spaulding and Mt Gray Wolf. It was very challenging, but rewarding.
I am anticipating the new year with excitement for change and making new relationships with the students. Our team will be dedicated to a fantastic way of leading...relationships first, period. We want to see young lives transform into healthy, respectful and self sufficient teenagers. I am thankful for a place like Mountain Ridge that allows us to be creative and use that creativity to challenge and push students to reach their fullest potential. This is going to be a great year!
Thank you for your support! Please let me know if you have any questions, thoughts or comments. I would love to hear from you. Life is good!
